The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a song psychotherapy program on job stress and coping ability of social workers. Subjects included social workers from the K Welfare Centers in K District, Seoul. Two 50-minute sessions per week, for a total of 10 sessions took place between February 27th and March 30th, 2017. The Job Stress Scale and Stress Coping Ability Scale were utilized to measure the effects of the song therapy program. The Mann-Whitney U test revealed a statistically significant in job stress and stress coping ability scores between the experimental group and the control group. Wilcoxon Matched Pair test showed that the job stress scores of the experimental group decreased significantly during the program; however, the control group showed a significant difference in job stress score. Additionally, a statistically significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in stress coping ability was revealed. The results of this study suggest that the song psychotherapy program can be an effective intervention strategy to treat job stress and enhance the coping abilities of social workers.
